Roth's writing is cleverly written and worded to match the dystopian, post-apocalyptic genre. I dived straight into the book, reading chapter after chapter trying to understand and come to grips with the new characters introduced and the fraction-less.

After the alliance with Marcus that Tris makes I rolled my eyes, a very typical movement and plot 'twist'. I liked how it still focused on Tris and Tobias but also parted away from them until the end. Showing the typical romance everyone craves for.

Insurgent was a brilliant second installment to the Divergent trilogy and I enjoyed it as much a as Divergent. All in all I do hope that the final installment to he Divergent trilogy; Allegiant will higher my standards and close the series with a bang.
It took me a while to finally begin reading the Divergent Series. I knew I would enjoy each novel and fall in love with the narratives. However, I decided to wait till the hype was hushed and then began the series. I am truly happy I did, I enjoyed this take on the Dystopian genre.

As a fan of this science fiction, dystopia genre I was interested in the way this story would pan out. At first I didn't enjoy the main protagonist names, as myself cringe at the name. So I smiled open heartedly at Tris becoming her name.

I knew romance would be a recurring theme, especially with Tobias/Four, that was a given soon as Tris entered the Dauntless. I enjoyed how society was ranked into different categories that represent different strengths and personality traits. I believe in my opinion that the ending war seemed rushed to finish, but I bow down to the ease of not hiding blood and violence and making it known. Roth's writing is strong, which matches with the brave characters she holds well within this first installment. I am looking forward to reading Insurgent.
I didn't know what to expect as I picked up this novel at first. Was it going to be a pathetic love story, following its cringy title 'Soulmates' or a nothingless novel that was a quick read. It was that, a quick read.

I certainly didn't expect the language within the novel, I am used to American writing where the author's always seem to be American. However, Soulmates struck me off guard. British. What I liked was the realism regarding teenagers in college, A Levels and coursework as well as mastering the art of juggling your social and educational life.

The theory behind true love as a moral in this fictional story was overridden by the pathetic 'plot twist' about the weather changing and 'forbidden love'. Suddenly it quite rapidly took a turn and flipped into a unlikely silly little story. The realism was stripped from everything we had endured. I do recommend this novel for a quick holiday read, one to be read in a short amount of time.
I didn't know what I was going to expect when reading this novel and the story surrounding the idea of a 'Fangirl' attached to 'FanFiction'. I decided I needed a feel-good novel that would match my current emotions of happiness and relaxation on a sunny day.

The central protagonist Cath, a small town, quiet and social anxiety teenager made me furious at first. Her attachment to these characters Baz and Simon was uncanny. It was cringe-worthy. However, as I read on I understood her passion towards these characters and her struggles coming with writing something completely original, her fiction writing classes. As a wake up call I urge all who want to go into writing as a career to re-think their decisions, is University a good way into starting of that career? The pressure of writing on a deadline about something you have no clue over, or the passion for. As a young writer my dream is to write, but University is not the way for me. Experience is.

I enjoyed this novel actually more than i expected to. I rooted for Cath to grow as a young teenager in her first year of college. Her realisation towards the ending was a triumph, she needed to live in the moment and not in a fictional world. I am impressed with the layout of the story and how it has grown into a life lesson into finding out who you are in not only a love story, but a realistic selfless way.
As a lover of all things Jim Henson's Labyrinth I was curious on what this graphic novel had to offer within the fiction world. I was impressed when my boyfriend handed me this graphic novel having known he knows nothing of the Labyrinth, film or not. I wanted to enter the world of Jareth's Labyrinth, reliving my childhood at nearly 20 years old.

I wondered where this journey would take me, introduce me to new characters and imaginative creatures. I was utterly impressed by the creation of a new story, following Toby growing up and how Sarah's world is now his. Toby's characteristics seems very selfish, his personality is very morbid and controlling over who he is and what he wants. However, this was a very likely outcome for Toby seeing as he very much was that child in the original Labyrinth; Sarah's annoying little brother. In my opinion, Toby and Sarah are similar characters as their characteristics mold together into their parents. I would enjoy seeing more about Sarah in the next installments and see where her childhood takes her.

Favoring Jareth, the Goblin King I admire his passion and devotion towards Sarah and how his love for her has not passed throughout the years. I am excited to see what happens with Jareth and how he has left the thrown to Toby.

As a fan of Jim Henson's Labyrinth and a first reader of any sort of graphic novel, I was impressed and loved Return to Labyrinth. If you have ever watched Labyrinth growing up, visited the world I once had I recommend this journey back into this world. Revisit Hoggle and Ludo once more!
It took me a while for me to decide in which direction I
wanted to head towards for my career. I tried to think of everything that I
wanted to do and outline it with my greatest ambition. To be published. After
reading up on job roles, on career options I knew straight away University was
not for me. It might be the constant sitting in lectures or the time wasting
experience, I just knew I didn't want that. I wanted to be able to give my all
each time, to get straight into a job that I would thoroughly enjoy. The
no-debt fee was also a great upside.
could support me and my career. When I stumbled across The Juice Academy
Apprenticeship scheme for Social Media, I wasn't too sure that I had a chance.
Yes, like all other young people out there I use social networks actively and
hold my own Blog. But I didn't think I could see myself in the position.
Without any other thought, I read around the job roles, around companies and the
definition of social media and knew this was the step I was willing to take. I
was impressed with everything The Juice Academy had to offer, earning what I
would have spent on a University degree doing something I love.
What exactly is the Dystopia genre? It’s a genre which manifests
a world in the future which focuses on society and how they have challenged
ways in politics, science, religion or technology. It’s the complete opposite
of Utopia, which is an ideal world we see as to live in.

I,
as a young reader have become enlightened to this futuristic genre that has set
aside from Science Fiction. I believe that dystopia is the perfect setting and
lifestyle that we as a generation are happily walking into without the
acknowledgement. It may seem like the little things first, from the invention
of the internet and little message groups you joined so often on forums, or sources
like MySpace (2003) checking out bands and sharing your profiles. Our social
media insight has risen over the past 10 years, to create this way of connecting;
sharing, viewing and searching become easier and well-known interaction among
young people. We take it for granted these days, it’s just a way of sharing our
weekends, searching through others profiles, who’s with whom and what they look
like. Thanks to Facebook (2004) and Twitter (2006) which our most used social
media applications and sites to date.

The writers of the dystopian genre have manifested worlds which
mirror our own. ‘Uglies by Scott
Westerfeld (2005)’ creates this community which believes you are only
pretty when you turn 16 and under-go cosmetic surgery, this shows how social
media creates a version of yourself that you want to be. In their society they
believe their ranks are everything, what their feeds are, what stories they
have revealed and how high they can get. It’s much like how many views you can
gather on YouTube (2005) or how many likes on a post on Facebook. It creates a
world where everyone is someone else, their ideal person with no emotions over
anything that they can do.

of love where partners are created by a test which chooses for you depending on
your own results. However, would that actually ever work? Love happens to

Firstly, I placed this book on my want Christmas list hoping I'd find a new love for a book. I was intrigued by the Dystopian genre that I have grew fondly of. I honestly, can say I actually enjoyed this book.
Maybe Prue's discomfort, childish running away from others began to get irritating, however in the perspective of someone left alone in the wild for 3 years without speaking to anyone or having to go through so many challenges created this new unique dangerous protagonist who only minimally needed a male's help. Her lack of vocabulary was irritating but as you grew to come to turns with who Prue is, you understand and believe her character will become more reliant within meeting Shaw.

Every book needs a male and female lead, Prue met Shaw. Shaw was a masculine character who himself was so similar to Prue with death, family and hidden broken past's. They suited from the start.

I really did enjoy Nicole R.Taylor's take to the Dystopian genre, enhancing out creatures and diseases into the wild and creating something more threatening for society, human's becoming violent as well as mutant living creatures.

Similarly to Delirium, I found myself becoming bored with waiting for the action, drama and light within the book. Once it finally picked up halfway through it got interesting, yet rapidly fell again. I was expecting so much more from this book from what I got with Pandemonium, which was the best in the trilogy.

It was interesting reading from the perspective of both Lena and Hana, one foot inside and one foot outside. It shown how much society can affect you and how a place without love can be destroyed by those who believe. All in all, I actually did overall enjoy this trilogy although I did expect much more. I do honestly recommend in reading this trilogy, it was a steady read which fair enough became difficult and frustrating to get into. However, I did enjoy the trilogy all in all, if you fancy reading a science-fiction/ dystopia novel I do recommend giving it a chance.
I was expecting such a slow steady paced novel that flowed the exact same way as Delirium flowed. I was proven wrong as the narrative began to intrigue me more. It may have been from the character's I was fond of or the character's I was newly introduced to. However, Pandemonium began on a confused note, I was put off my balance by the odd chapters from Then & Now. But as I got into the flow of the chapters flipping back and forth, the narrative was picked up again.

The change of setting is what this novel needed, somewhere new and fresh to bring this narrative to life. I enjoyed the introduction to the Wilds and the journey that Lena had to go on in order to become stronger. Although she began to irate me in area's, it shown the growth within her character. It was incredibly typical to introduce a new male character who will help form this love triangle for Lena. The ending was a typical podium to fall upon. I am excited to read the last instalment in the trilogy, Requiem.
It certainly didn't take my interest very well. A slow start. It took a while for me to be intrigued within the narrative. I was hoping throughout many chapters it wasn't just another Dystopia themed book.

Then there is Hana, the rebel best friend who thinks she's better than others. Hana shown difference to Lena, being more aware of who she was and what she wanted especially about the so called disease 'Deliria'. Alex was the first strong open character who was then introduced which was obvious from the start that he didn't belong in Portland and he was there to cause Lena to believe who she really is and what she actually believes in even when she didn't know it.

As much as the linear narrative began to strain and bore me, it luckily picked up. It hit its high after half way through the book, in a way that is incredibly late for an author to achieve. I am now intrigued into the rest of the novel's within the series which hopefully do not suffer like the first few chapters of Delirium. If you enjoy the Dystopian genre and want a new series introducing love as a disease and seeing how it affect's society and the government this certainly is the right book for you.
Eleanor & Park is an incredible realistic touching novel that demonstrates life in the messed up world we live in.

I began this novel in confusion over why it was vastly raved about, however as I journeyed through each chapter I discovered why. Rowell's writing is touching as the words are written beautifully that enhances each of the characters. Eleanor's struggle throughout her new school and living with herself has took a toll on her enjoying her youth, from her family struggles, neglect and poverty it shows this book includes many themes. Her struggle with her weight, hair colour, freckles and her strange take to people has placed her in difficult situations that has caused her to be bullied severely, not only by her peers but by her stepdad. As Park was portrayed as an odd ball at first on the bus, his character grew and matured as he became crazed by Eleanor.

I believe this beautiful romance was a wonderful capture of life as a teenager, anything can happen at any moment. I loved every step throughout this novel, being greeted with all these experiences that both Eleanor & Park are faced with. How relationships can turn in the blink of an eye, but also can become something greater than that. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a little heart warming novel, easy read and light. Superb writing and narrative.
My journey has ended, I can't believe it. It's been an incredible, lengthy journey in which had out done my expectations and enjoyed immensely. I fell in love with the Morganville Vampire Series all them years ago, away on holiday buried into Glass Houses. I may of hoped for Claire to go for Michael at first then swallowed my hope and egged on Shane throughout the whole of the series. I loved everything about it. Well of course it's a light- not so light series, vampires of course. But it's a story of a town full of well... Morganville.
Daylighters may of started off, well strangely and annoyingly by the hellhound scenario, however as the story went on it was the correct way to end such a long series. The plot twists, towns rights, more fighting, death and well...biting, it was a job well done to Rachel Caine. The final ending was beautifully, elegantly perfect for each protagonist. Claire and Shane's rightful happy ending, finally! Eve and Michaels re-marriage in human situation. It was a perfect way to show how Morganville is.
If you have any passion or interest in the young adult paranormal genre, this book series is the one to pick up. It may seem an easy read and one to pass on by the first book but as most series do, this one is one to finish. Hand's down my favourite book series.
What I liked about this novel was it was completely different from every other novel I have read. It made an interesting story as it shows the difficulties that youth go through even when you believe everything is okay. I enjoyed how the story was a light read but filled with heavy characters that hold creativity and problems. The portrayal of the protagonists, Evan and Lucy was an obvious scenario by the love interest between them. Evan's character shows how even though he may seem perfect and comes from a stable, perfect home he isn't. He hides who he really is, without his own acknowledgement. His pressure off his father shone throughout the novel which is something that is popular within students in that situation. Lucy was an odd portrayal, her non-but-gothic-hardcore image portrayed her to be who she was. I understand the uniqueness she wanted to show by the dark hair and makeup as I find myself placing myself into her character especially with her problems that suffice her life. However, her character shown plenty of selfishness and weakness by her hiding the truth from Evan and breaking him as she went along. All in all, I enjoyed this novel by the different narrative and characters point of views.
After completing The Hollow trilogy which I very much fell in love with, another book that featured the beloved Caspian and Abbey was one to read. At first I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy this novel, however it greatly surprised me. I loved it. It shown a different side to Jessica Verday's novel's. Firstly, the characters characteristics were incredibly different from what is usually portrayed. Cyn's tough girl act, swearing frequently and entire different image was a strange taking for the protagonist. However, as the narrative set out a new conquest of Cyn's journey I became to like her bad-ass charisma. On the other hand, Avian 'Thirteen' is that typical bad boy, hottie who isn't human but half demon and angel. I loved this take onto the supernatural genre, the romance is still given and even the connection to The Hollow trilogy. Incredibly, thrilling supernatural romantic narrative.
Impressionable experiences or stories are incredibly
difficult to narrow down. However, one that empowers me the most is one tale
told by my Gran, Dorothy Cartwright. My Gran loved to speak of her family, she
was proud of them although her husband, Lesley’s side casted her out from them.
One of the people she was mostly proud of was her brother Bill Cartwright. Bill
was a young writer who tried his very best to be successfully published. During
this time when he was growing up he drank numerous amounts each day, which was
vastly popular within that time period. He spent the most of his youth and
young adulthood writing his novel, he expressed his cheeky personality into his
writing. My Gran was always enlightened with Bill’s charisma, which made him
into the cheeky chap he was. Bill and Dorothy grew up in the old homely home,
which she still calls home. Her house holds many memories inside that have made
my Gran into the most headstrong women I know. Numerous publishers, as my Gran
recalls declined Bill’s book, regrettably by the explicit content that was bind
in one book. In that year it was deeply frowned upon for any racy books to be
written, it was unknowledgeable to anyone. This is saddening, as I would love
with passion to read the words that Bill once brilliantly wrote. A writer’s
personality and characteristics reflect within their work. My Gran never had
the chance to read his book as it became missing and susceptibly remains with
his own family. Bill died at a young age by a heart attack, this shown that he
never had the happiness of any writers dream by being rightfully published. My
Gran’s love for Bill and his passion for writing impressed my incredibly by
sharing the same interests as myself. It is said it’s likely aspirations get
passed down in generations.

As a 'Whovian' as they call it. I was in love with the story of Amy and Rory's beautiful heartwarming fairytale love. When I got bought this novel for my 19th birthday not too long ago (26.10.2013) I couldn't wait to begin to take action and get my head stuck into it.
The introduction by Amelia Williams played with my heart strings. Amy's beautiful words directed at her raggedy man shown her passion and heartache of letting go of him for him to be alone. What I loved about this beginning of the novel that contained these amazing short stories was the tone of voice. I could hear Amy's words as I read along. I fell in love with this.

I began with the first short story within the novel; Summer Falls's by Amelia Williams. I didn't know what to expect in all honesty when I started the novel. However, in some sense of science fiction narrative I enjoyed this little story of a painting and monster. It was an interesting read that started off a good novel.
The Angel's Kiss by Melody Malone, of course was brilliant! It was my favourite story from the three included in the book. I could feel the River Song charisma behind the protagonist; Melody. I was impressed with the overall outcome within this narrative.

The final short story was Devil in the Smoke. It was an interesting read that I was not too thrilled about starting, however I grew to enjoy the storyline and of course Madame Vastra was an interesting character to anyone. It was a brilliant story and reminded me of the snowman monsters within the episodes that have aired. Overall, I was greatly impressed with this selection of short stories and loved the journeys that each of these narratives took me on
As a reader, I certainly have a bad habit of reading the very last page of a series that I am very much enjoying, this to me is to make me fully aware that the main protagonist, which is Tally in this case has chosen the right person in the end. Well the person I think she should be with. I really enjoyed the third novel, even with my hatred of Shay's annoying presence throughout this book. Fair enough she holds a little hate towards Tally from what she has done, but in my view what Shay did to Tally was much worse. Her changing into a viscous Special, a creature not a human. Tally's time as a special was interesting to discover, it shown how in the society of the Uglies, Smokies, Rusties and Pretties there is a much disturbing 'icy' upgrade. Doctor Cable's creations all cause some form of fear throughout characters, but the ones to fear the most are the ones under Special Circumstance, the cutters. An 'icy' role and addition to this cruel world that Westerfeld has embarked upon. I have to admit as a girl I did want more of David within this book, I had a hunch that Tally would make the right choice in the end. You go girl! I also admit that Zane's ending didn't not surprise me at all I though that would be the outcome for him as he was soon introduced into the story.

All in all, I really surprisingly enjoyed the series and it was a long time coming, thrilling, intense, dangerous fight to enforce the right rules upon society and how it can effect the world world we live in. If you want a roller-coaster to ride upon, this young adult science fiction series is for you.

After reading Uglies, I really wanted to find out more about Tally's new life as a Pretty. Uglies began what all book series should do, intriguing you into wanting more. I was impressed with the way the portrayal of the characters transit from being an Ugly to being a Pretty. However, what put me off this new change and Tally was the introduction to Zane. Zane's character probably was introduced to do no harm apart from rivalry between David and Zane. I still rooted for David throughout this book. I didn't like Tally's mistaken choices she constantly makes then is captured over and over again, if you was really that desperate to be cured you'll try harder. It was clever to place the diversion of Tally's so close to escape by Zane once again, who strikes her off her goal. The downside to the book is Shay's pettiness, she acts like an immature child, although I would be peeved with my friend after the whole selling the Smoke out, but my opinion on Shay was for her to grow up and get over herself. Also, I hate the repetition of 'bubbly' in reference to being happy and lively, it makes me cringe in ways. Pretties has done well in carrying on the trilogy.

I surprisingly was taken by this series and believe if you want something from another world, a story about technology and how society can change this book is for you. It's something different and interesting to read.

Firstly, I didn't purchase this book or was drawn to it by it's association with The Hunger Games, a trilogy which I love. I believe after reading this book that it is nothing alike THG, the differences are clearly shown by the plot of the book. I loved the heroin of Tally, the portrayal of a young girl who want's to be just like everyone else, Pretty. She hates the way she is born, an Ugly. Her hatred towards being left in Uglyville whilst her best friend Peris is in New Pretty Town, makes you sympathise for Tally. However, as she meets Shay a girl who twists Tally's beliefs and morals, the story takes a turn. At first I believed it was going to be a typical Tally is in love with Peris but forbidden by the Ugly and Pretty view upon them. The whole Romeo & Juliette love story. But I was fully mistaken by the introduction to David, a character which I believe can become something more, a hero and a safe haven for Tally.

Although, it took me a while to get into this book, I was happy that I carried on reading till the end. I loved the layout and how Scott Westerfeld has portrayed his female protagonist within the world of image change. I recommend this series completely to anyone who loves to try something new. It's a complete new story portraying how society works with technology and the behavior of the uglies, smokies, rusties and pretties.
This young contemporary romance novel is set within 24 hours, showing how in that little amount of time & one coincidental flight seating arrangement is enough for the two teenagers to fall in love.

I believe it's an typical take on romance novels edged towards teenagers. The American girl an British boy fall in love and typically on the same flight and seated in the same row. It was a stereotypical teenage romance but was a brilliant way to tell it. It's sort of a every girls dream come true.
I truly recommend this light reading novel for young girls or even boys who want an easy read. It can be read at any occasions throughout the year, but to me it's a holiday read. If you are into fate & believe it, this book is for you.
As a fan of Alyson Noël's novel's I thought I should read back on her older books, however I was disappointed by the writing being weak and the little plots that are not a running theme throughout each of the stories. I expected something light and readable which I would enjoy, Keeping Secrets is that a light easy read but I didn't enjoy it at all.
I didn't really enjoy this book, it didn't seem intriguing from the start which I was disappointed with. Usually I love Alyson Noel's novels but Faking 19 seemed like child's play, Alex's and M's pathetic game of wanting to be older and in the Hollywood glamorous scene was immature. The concept of faking their 16 year old selfs to seem 19 was a childish act and was obvious it would never get them far.
Th setting of Saving Zoe was different from the start, it was immediately intriguing especially as Echo gets her hands upon Zoe's diary. The book has twist an turns and was beautiful, making you thankful for what you have and feel sorry for Zoe's stupid choices.
Dash & Lily's Book of Dares

“I want to believe there is a somebody out there just for me. I want to believe that I exist to be there for that somebody.”
'Dash & Lily's Book of Dares' intrigued me right away. The characters intelligence, knowledge and their correct use of words drawn me into taking a liking for both Dash and Lily. Wouldn't it be everyone's fantasy to create a 'dance' of the passing of a notebook with someone who shared interests in the same passions as yourself?

I as a reader enjoyed this book throughout each chapter. It is unusual for me to read a book which is been told through a males perspective but Dash's perspective and interests led me to adore his character. I am jealous of yes a fictional book, the fact that they can endure their passions for books within a small local bookstore 'Strands' whilst in reality we lack them. I can relate to the characters by their loneliness and how they can feel so distant from people, how Lily decides to not speak to people for a day. Everyone can relate to characters within books as they are a realistic theme running through them, love. The ending is peaceful and beautiful which describes the entire book.

I completely and utterly recommend this novel to anyone who loves the beauty of books creating a connection with another human being. One of my best books I have found to read, words are difficult to say how beautiful this book is. It just reminds me of the happiness christmas makes.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower

After finally reading 'The Perks of being a Wallflower', I understand some of the commotion behind people liking the book. It certainly wasn't a quick read even with only 231 pages, the book told Charlie's perspective through his life. It dealt with drugs, school, depression and sex all as themes within the books. As a reader I found the book interesting, it's split into 4 parts with an epilogue which show to the audience how Charlie copes and deals with his struggles. The book is centred around Charlie's depression and guilt that holds over him by his Aunts death. The book deals with friendship as a key theme showing how his feelings for Sam which are projected bigger as the story progresses will always be there for Charlie, the friendship between Sam, Charlie and Patrick.

However, although the book was one that you should always read- a recommendation to say that you have read the book and understood Charlie's heartbreaking life. I do believe the novel is a tricky one, it took a while to read over the words Chbosky writes and re-read them a couple of times to actually understand the idea of the story and Charlie himself. All in all I, I was a bit taken back by the hype for this novel it wasn't one I fully enjoyed and can say I loved it. It had the idea to create a good story and to tell the life of Charlie but it takes a while to re-read the words. I can truthly say I was actually disappointed within this novel, but never the less I still say others shall read it and actually see what the hype is about, as you may like it.

3/5 stars
Of course being a Mcfly 'Galaxy Defender' makes this journey of reading Unsaid Things much more meaningful. Where do I start? The autobiography comes from each Danny's, Tom's, Dougie's and Harry's point of view as they make up the well- known British Band Mcfly. It starts of course with Tom's story and how he was the one who we are to thank for discovering and introducing this amazing band that I have adored for 10 years along with Busted's, James Bourne. The audience discovers the truth, heartaches, depression and on a serious note suicide from the bands perspectives, revealing honestly to us the true intention of the band.

I can't come to explain my feelings as I read on and on through the book, it was gripping and made you feel connected with each band member. From Tom's struggles that we never knew of, to Dougie's truth of why he was in rehab. Unsaid Things has left me to say I am a proud and devoted fan who has been supporting since 2004. My opinions may seem biased but Mcfly are always going to be a fully respected band and not a boy band.
